Name: National Day of Prayer Service
    Date: May 5, 2022
    Time: 12:00 PM - 12:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:

The National Day of Prayer is observed annually on the first Thursday in May. This day observance, designated by the United States Congress, asks people to turn to God in prayer and meditation.

Throughout our history, Americans of many religions and belief systems have turned to prayer for strength, hope, and guidance.  Prayer has nourished countless souls and powered moral movements.  Prayer is also a daily practice for many, whether it is to ask for help or strength, or to give thanks over blessings bestowed. The First Amendment to our Constitution protects the rights of free speech and religious liberty, including the right of all Americans to pray.  These freedoms have helped us to create and sustain a Nation of remarkable religious vitality across the generations.

The Sparta/White County Family YMCA has teamed up with White County Government and will be the host of White County's National Day of Prayer Service! Our goal is to have all of White County pause for one hour and enter the open channel of God's healing grace by providing a powerful service. This event is open to all and will be a collaborative effort between a wide variety of denominations, local businesses, faith-based organizations, and community leaders. For this one hour, we lay aside any differences and come together under one uniting principle: the power of prayer.
